Hobson Prior is seeking an Associate Scientist, Animal Technician to join a dynamic team. This role focuses on delivering in vivo studies, animal care and welfare as well as ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and welfare.

Responsibilities:

• Perform daily animal husbandry tasks for rodents and pigs, ensuring the highest standards of animal care and welfare.
• Manage breeding and maintenance of transgenic mice.
• Conduct technical procedures such as collecting biological samples, weighing, and administering medicines/compounds.
• Maintain daily record-keeping for animals and their environment.
• Handle routine facility operations tasks, including dishwashing and maintenance of racks and caging equipment.
• Work flexibly across different areas and provide weekend and out-of-hours support as needed.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality, and compliance standards, such as General Laboratory Standard (GLS).

Key Skills & Requirements:

• Experience working with rodents or a strong interest in animal care and welfare.
• Understanding of principles and concepts associated with Laboratory Animal Science (LAS), particularly animal welfare and the 3Rs.
• Laboratory Animal education by NCLASET or other relevant Laboratory Animal Science (LAS) course is preferred but not mandatory if you have relevant experience in animal care.
• Past experience within animal care is highly desirable.
